Sensuality meets rigour in French interior designer Xavier Dohr’s body of work. Using
subtle contrasting colours and materials and silhouettes that seemingly defy gravity, he
conceives strong, characterful pieces that elude a particular time period or style. Dohr’s
unique aesthetic derives from his former profession as a fashion designer, dressing
furniture in a similar fashion in which he would dress the human body.
Honouring the innate characteristics of a chosen material while also animating its
volume through the interplay of lines and volumes, Dohr’s work for Van Rossum shows
the designer’s unique point of view. His collection Kitale is a prime example.
