Designers Lieven Musschoot and Cas Moor have worked in tandem since 2014 when Musschoot, known mainly for his sophisticated hospitality projects, reached out to Moor for his technical expertise in product design. The Belgian design duo adopts a design process where the work arises from experimentation and research into materiality and manufacturing techniques, rather than predetermined functions or requirements.
Macaron, a collection for Van Rossum made up of a stool and a side table, is a case in point. Honest and humble, the handcrafted pieces are reduced to the bare minimum, yet with the essence still intact.
